Want better aluminum welds?
Don’t Strike an Arc Until You Test Your Argon Flow
Learn more about this Prime Welder 325 aka PrimeWeld TIG325x
If you want clean, consistent TIG welds on aluminum, there’s one simple step that too many welders skip—testing your argon flow on a scrap piece first.
Why? Because the cleaning action of the AC arc only goes where there is shielding gas.
Too little flow, barely any cleaning area and your puddle gets peppered and milky.
Too much flow, and you create turbulence that causes a loud erratic arc, ruining your chances of a good bead.
By taking just a minute to strike up on a scrap piece of aluminum, you can see right away if your cup size, gas lens, and flow rate are dialed in.
It’s a simple down & dirty test that works

You can see that as the CFH gets higher, the cleaning zone gets bigger until it levels out at 25CFH...that is the optimum setting for this setup to provide a clean puddle
