Higher AC frequency settings can help focus the bead. This is helpful when welding on an edge.

I used the primeweld tig325x at 150 and 250hz and while the 150hz setting worked great, the 250hz ac frequency setting seemed to increase travel speed.

You might have noticed that the 250hz bead required a bit more amperage to make the same size bead.

in my experience, that is to be expected.

Just like pulse on DC, when you increase AC frequency, more amperage is needed for a given joint or bead.

But if you have the needed amperage, using higher AC frequency settings can be a great feature to focus the bead, create a puddle faster, and make smaller tighter  welds when needed.
