TIG Aluminum 3G Butt Joint Full Penetration

I don't think you will find a better video anywhere on a full penetration butt joint on 1/8" (.125") 3.2mm thick aluminum.

Settings matter and they are listed in the video but what is every bit as important as settings is cleaning the sheered edge properly.

A clean dedicated file is a good choice for cleaning the edge for a full penetration weld.

I used a #5 clear cup for this video mostly because it helps me film and see the weld better.

My good friend Brad Goodman often uses a #5 ceramic cup for tig welding his aluminum dog feeders and dog boxes.

I don't always need a clear cup so sometimes I used the pink #5.

Our Ally #5 combo kit has a pink cup along with a clear cup.
