Looking for The Perfect Tungsten for the welder who doesn't want five different tungsten types in the toolbox?
Actually, the perfect all around tungsten doesn’t exist.
But here is some good news…
These Three types of tungsten are almost perfect if you had to chose only one:
- 2% lanthanated (blue)
- CK LaYZr (chartreuse)
- E3 (purple)
Just pick either one if you are the type of person who likes to keep things simple and doesn’t want 5 different types of tungsten floating around your tool tray.
Both 2% lanthanated and CK LaYZr are good choices for an all around electrode that works on everything.
And let me let you in on a little secret
CK LaZYr and E3 (purple) are pretty much the same thing .
The main difference in 2% lanthanated from the other 2 is that it tends to hold up better at higher amperage.
But CK LayZr and E3 hold a sharp tip slightly longer than 2% lanthanated .
So if you are doing a lot of DC welding on steels, and only occasionally weld aluminum, CK LayZr and E3 are great choices.
