Hey Jodi,
Great to see you in a podcast format.
I’ve learned a ton from you since first dabbling in sticking stuff together with a low end MIG welder after my retirement from the USAF some 15 years ago. My welds were pretty ugly back then and I am still a better grinder than welder. Early on I took a series of night welding classes (10 weeks in total) offered at the only remaining high school in San Antonio still teaching the trades. Learned enough to stay safe and continue my new hobby.
Long story short, we moved to Illinois 6 years ago to be near our grandsons – best move ever!!! Two years ago I enrolled in our local community college’s welding program and have completed 3 semesters to date (also took two semesters of industrial machining technology courses). Learned a ton and as an old bald retired guy my aspiration was to be the best “C” welding student my instructors ever had :-). Seriously I’ve learned a ton and my MIG welds have improved greatly and I’ve learned to TIG as well. I now have my shop set up and am having a blast fabricating all kinds of stuff. Still a rank amateur but I spend a lot less time grinding at this point :-). I still go back to your channel frequently for review as well – so very helpful!
I’ll try to make it to FabTech in Chicago – maybe bring my grandsons.
You are in my thoughts and prayers often as I rarely go into my shop without thinking about what I have learned and still continue to learn from you over the years.
Keep fighting the good fight!
Respectfully,
Karl Lee

Karl E Lee,

Jody – You’re a champion for the industry! I enjoy and appreciate your videos which are very educational. Having attended vocational school for welding, I can honestly say that your videos are excellent for showing what to look for when joining metal. Actually, they serve as an excellent curriculum for becoming an informed welder. I agree you are an educator and we are fortunate to have you as a resource. Thank you for all you do!

David Cherry,

Good luck with your bone marrow transplant. We’re praying for you.❤️🙏🏻

William Webster,

was a home run! Best wishes and prayers on your upcoming journey.

I recently tig welded a table 90% free hand(inside, outside, vertical and…). I know tig position welding is the first step to success, but in this case it didn’t work. A project showing tips and tricks on how to tig better freehand would be helpful.
Thanks much for what you do.

Tom,

Alain,

Back in 1999-2000 I was working on new Fair pens for our local county 4-H there was a lot of help from the livestock commity and the 4-H members. And many members got their first hands-on welding experience, building those pens. I was just getting started with computers and was frustrated when trying to share one of your “Welding Tips & Tricks” videos with these young welders and had problems relocating it on line, so I bought the yearly DVD set which made it much easier, and permament. your explanations often made more sense and i’m sure kept me from passing along more of my bad habots. I know of at least two of these young members who are now grown that have taken up welding carers, and as this is an ag. based community can only imagine how many have saved the day when they fixed some thing that would have otherwise had to wait days for some one else to be called. After 25 years the pens are holding up & still in use. Wish you were still putting out thos yearly DVD sets as I know there is more to learn. LL&P Lloyd

Lloyd Scharf,

I’m not much of a religious person but I have lost two wives to cancer. So, I wish you well and I hope you have a long future yet a1s I am one of those people who heard about you in welding school and have been following ever since. Ta1ke care of yourself and I look forward to more timely and informative videos.

Jay Jamison,

Hi I have been following your videos on YouTube for a long time. I have also bought some help from your website. Your videos have helped me a lot with settings on the tig machine for what and how the different techniques you advise. I just watched your podcast and heard about your challenges. And I hope you win this one and will continue your podcasts and videos for many years to come. Best regard from Norway

Frode J,

Retired welder here welded in fab shops nukes power plants and chip plants like you I consider myself to be an above average welder. Worked with some that were a lot better than me. Started watching your tips and tricks videos and learned a lot. Just watched your first podcast and enjoyed it,looking forward to seeing more.good luck with your cancer treatments.

Calvin stephens ,

Great to see this!! Long time fan from the beginning Jody! Congrats to you and the crew!

Jeremy True,

Hi Jody! I’m a 77 year old hobby welder and “fixer/builder” on my small farm in Alberta Canada. I’ve followed you for many years now and have to say you’ve helped me to move from being an “okay” welder to a “decent welder”. I hope one day to purchase one of your tig machines. I did some gas welding on an old car I built into a street rod and feel gas and tig have much in common. But most important I want to thank you and assure you, you will remain in my prayers for a quick recovery. God bless from your friend in the Great White North.

Neal Fossen,

Jody, Hope everything goes well for you in your recovery. I’m near Chicago and may make it up to FabTech. Along some of your comments how we get started, high school shop and later some junior college weld classes. Heavy equipment mechanic all my life so stick was main go to and if you were lucky to be in the shop Mig. Since retiring got into some hot rod building and a friend and I decided we would learn to TIG weld specifically aluminum. Watched many of your videos as well as others. Were not to far from HTP and heard they had a part day aluminum class. Took the class and our instructor was Jerry Westhouse, not sure if you had heard of him but he has been in the Motorsports business for 35 years currently build chassis for Newman Hass. We did get better. Anyway, hope your treatments go well and look forward to more Podcast. Jim
