Fireball Tool Mystic Square 16" – Large Welding & Fabrication Square
The Fireball Tool Mystic Square 16" gives welders and fabricators a larger, longer reference surface for accurate fit-up, alignment, frame building, and welding fabrication—without putting a bulky fixture directly in the way of the weld joint.
Based on Fireball Tool's proven Mega Square concept, the Mystic Square uses a larger 16" format to provide improved alignment across longer workpieces while creating more open access to both inside and outside corners.
For large frames, tubing assemblies, gates, railings, structural fabrication, and other projects where a smaller welding square starts to feel undersized, the Mystic Square gives you more working area while maintaining a low-profile design.
Built for Larger Fabrication Projects
Longer material can be more difficult to align accurately.
A small square may technically establish the correct angle at the joint, but it provides very little reference farther down the workpiece.
The 16" Mystic Square increases that reference length, making it easier to align larger pieces of tubing, plate, and fabricated assemblies before tack welding.
It's an excellent choice for:
-
Large frame fabrication
-
Square and rectangular tubing
-
Gates and railings
-
Structural fabrication
-
Welding table setups
-
Large fabricated assemblies
-
Tack welding and fit-up
-
Long material alignment
-
Production fabrication
-
General welding and metalworking
More Weld Access
One of the defining features of the Mystic Square is the amount of welding access around the joint.
Fireball Tool enlarged the format compared with its Mega Square to provide additional room around both inside and outside corners.
That means you can position and clamp your workpieces while maintaining better access for your:
-
TIG torch
-
MIG gun
-
Stick electrode
-
Tack welds
-
Fit-up adjustments
Instead of constantly removing your square just to reach the joint, the Mystic Square is designed to stay out of your way while helping keep the assembly aligned.
Better Alignment Across Longer Material
The longer body isn't just about size.
The increased length gives you a larger reference surface when aligning long sections of material, helping reduce small alignment errors that can become much more noticeable farther away from the joint.
That's especially useful when building:
For larger work, having more square against the material can make fit-up faster and easier.
Low-Profile Design
Despite its larger format, Fireball designed the Mystic Square to maintain a low-profile shape.
This helps keep the square usable in tighter working areas while providing the additional length needed for larger fabrication projects.
You get more reference surface without unnecessarily filling up the entire work area.
Cast Iron + Dragon Scale
The Mystic Square features cast iron construction with Fireball Tool's Dragon Scale coating.
Cast iron provides the rigidity and stability needed for serious fabrication work, while the Dragon Scale treatment improves the tool's ability to handle the environment around a welding table.
Dragon Scale Benefits
-
Excellent resistance to weld spatter
-
Improved corrosion resistance
-
Enhanced wear resistance
-
Built for regular fabrication shop use
For a tool that's going to spend its life around welding, grinding, steel, and fabrication debris, those are useful advantages.
Alignment Tabs – No Fixture Table Required
The Mystic Square can also be used with Fireball Tool's alignment tabs to help locate and position your material.
The tabs create reference surfaces that make it easier to align the square with your workpiece and can be attached to the front or back depending on your setup.
This means you don't necessarily need an expensive dedicated welding fixture table to take advantage of the square.
Use the tabs to establish your reference, position the material, clamp everything in place, and get to welding.
Tool-Less Thumbscrews
The Mystic Square includes four Fireball Tool tool-less thumbscrews for adjusting the alignment tabs.
Instead of reaching for an Allen wrench or hex key every time you want to change the configuration, simply loosen or tighten the thumbscrews by hand.
That makes repositioning tabs considerably faster when you're moving between different fabrication setups.
Optional Edge Alignment Pins
Fireball Tool Edge Alignment Pins can be added to further expand your setup options.
Depending on the application, alignment pins can help:
-
Position the square off the edge of a welding table
-
Create vertical or perpendicular setups
-
Raise the square for additional clearance
-
Establish parallel reference points
-
Position the square against different surfaces
-
Create additional layout and fabrication setups
Pairing alignment pins with Fireball Tool shims can also be useful when creating controlled offsets and parallel spacing.

A Bigger Square for Bigger Fabrication
When you're fitting up longer pieces of material, a small square only gives you so much reference.
The Fireball Tool Mystic Square 16" gives you the extra length needed to better align large workpieces while maintaining plenty of room to actually get to the weld joint.
Use it for frames, gates, railings, tubing assemblies, or any fabrication project where more reference surface makes setup easier.
More length. More weld access. Better fit-up on bigger projects.
