Fireball Tool Maximus Bar & Dog Clamp Kit – 2 Clamp Set
The Fireball Tool Maximus Bar & Dog Clamp Kit gives welders and fabricators serious clamping power without limiting you to a fixed-length bar.
Instead of supplying the clamp with a predetermined bar length, Fireball Tool designed the Maximus to slide over common 2" × 1" rectangular tubing. You supply the tubing and determine how long—or how short—you want your clamp to be.
Need a compact clamp for the welding table? Cut a short piece of tubing. Need to pull together a large frame or fabrication project? Use a longer bar.
The stronger the tubing, the stronger the setup. The longer the tubing, the longer the clamp.
Build the Clamp Length You Need
The Maximus Clamp is designed around readily available 2" × 1" rectangular tubing, allowing you to build a bar clamp specifically for the job in front of you.
There's no need to buy several different clamp lengths just to cover different projects.
Simply slide the Maximus arm and foot onto your tubing and start clamping.
This makes it ideal for:
-
Welding and fabrication
-
Large frame assemblies
-
Table and bench fabrication
-
Structural fabrication
-
Gate and railing work
-
Chassis and automotive fabrication
-
Large tubing assemblies
-
Straightening and alignment
-
Production fixtures
-
General shop clamping
2" × 1" rectangular tubing is required and is supplied by the customer.
Serious Clamping Force
These aren't light-duty bar clamps.
Fireball Tool uses a heavy-duty 1" diameter spindle with 6 threads per inch, rated for over 10,000 lbs of clamping force.
When paired with suitable 1/8"-wall rectangular tubing, Fireball Tool states that the Maximus can easily generate 2,500 lbs or more of clamping force.
Actual capacity ultimately depends on the strength, wall thickness, and length of the tubing you're using as the bar.
Extra-Long Spindle
The Maximus features an extra-long spindle designed to give you plenty of adjustment range and reach around obstacles.
The spindle itself provides approximately 9" of adjustment, with an overall spindle assembly length of approximately 12".
That extra reach can be extremely useful when you're clamping irregular assemblies or working around tubing, fixtures, brackets, and other parts that would interfere with a conventional clamp.
Deep Throat for Fabrication Work
The standard Maximus provides approximately 6" of throat depth from the bar to the center of the pressure pad.
That allows clamping pressure to reach farther into an assembly instead of being concentrated right at the edge of your material.
Fireball also offers a shorter-arm configuration for applications where a more compact clamp is preferred.
Clamp or Spread
The Maximus isn't limited to pulling parts together.
Reverse the direction of the clamp components and the system can also be used for spreading or pushing material apart.
That makes it useful for fabrication jobs where parts need to be:
Add Multiple Clamping Points to One Bar
Another major advantage of the Maximus design is the ability to place multiple clamp heads or feet onto the same piece of rectangular tubing.
This allows one bar to provide multiple pressure points across a larger fabrication project.
For frame building, large assemblies, or repeat production work, that can create a much more versatile clamping setup than a conventional single-point bar clamp.
Large Swiveling Foot Pad
The large foot pad is designed to work with both flat and round material.
A spring washer keeps the pad from simply flopping around while still allowing it to rotate and adjust to the angle of the workpiece.
That makes it easier to apply pressure where you need it when working with tubing, pipe, plate, and fabricated assemblies.
Designed to Compensate for Bar Deflection
Long bar clamps naturally deflect as clamping force increases.
As the rectangular tube bends under load, a conventional clamp arm can move the spindle out of alignment.
Fireball Tool addresses this by building a preload angle into the Maximus arm. The geometry is designed to help keep the spindle straighter as the bar begins to deflect under clamping pressure.
It's a small design detail that becomes much more important when you're putting serious force into a long clamp.
Forged Steel or Ductile Cast Iron
The Maximus is available in multiple configurations depending on your fabrication needs.
Forged Steel
Choose the Forged Steel Maximus for a heavy-duty clamp setup built for demanding fabrication work.
Fireball lists each forged steel clamp set at approximately 10 lbs.
Ductile Cast Iron
The Ductile Cast Iron Maximus provides another heavy-duty option, with Fireball listing each clamp set at approximately 8.4 lbs.

Build the Clamp Around the Project
Large fabrication projects can quickly outgrow conventional bar clamps.
The Fireball Tool Maximus Bar & Dog Clamp takes a different approach: instead of making your project fit the clamp, you build the clamp to fit your project.
Grab a piece of 2" × 1" rectangular tubing, cut it to the length you need, slide on the Maximus components, and you've got a serious fabrication clamp ready to work.
For big frames, heavy fit-up, straightening, spreading, and general fabrication, it's a clamping system that can grow right along with the job.
Your tubing. Your length. Serious clamping power.
