TIG Kit - Weldmonger® Stubby Gas Lens Kit
A Weldmonger Stubby Gas Lens TIG kit can be a great way to invest in yourself.
A friend of mine...(lets call him Ray) told me a story about his first day on a job at a fab shop that welded heat exchangers.
The very first job the Boss asked him to do was to repair 172 welds on a heat exchanger that had failed the hydro leak test.
The heat exchanger body and tubes were Haynes 188 alloy and was valued at over 90 thousand dollars ....and with 172 leaks, they were considering scrapping the part. (Boss man not happy).
Haynes 188 welds a lot like stainless steel ....unless you get it all oxidized with poor gas coverage and then it welds like mud and can crack easily.
The part had been welded using a standard collet body cup and all the welds were crusty and dark with 172 of the welds leaking from crater holes and tiny cracks.
After grinding out all the defects, Ray put on a #8 gas lens cup from his Weldmonger Stubby gas lens kit he had brought from home....
Then he set in to re weld all 172 leaks.
A few hours later, he finished the last weld and sent the part for the hydro leak test.
No leaks. Boss very happy!
So on Rays first day on the job, he saved a 90 thousand dollar part from the scrap bin.
Here is the question....
What would it be worth to make that kind of first impression on your first day on the job?
When you show up on a new job, you can't always depend on them having the best TIG cups or hardware for you to use.
Ray was smart and brought his own Gas Lens TIG kit with him on his first day on the job and it helped him make a lasting impression.
Don't be afraid to invest in yourself.
Having the right gear can make all the difference.
