The Fireball Tool 40pc Magnetic Shim Kit gives welders and fabricators a complete set of precision spacers for fit-up, welding table setup, alignment, leveling, and fabrication work.

Instead of digging through the scrap bin looking for the right piece of steel to raise or space a part, this kit gives you a range of known dimensions from 1/32" all the way up to 2".

The kit combines Fireball Tool's precision-ground magnetic shims with thin non-magnetic shims, giving you the ability to handle everything from larger setup changes to fine adjustments during fit-up.

28 Precision-Ground Magnetic Shims

The main set includes 28 hardened magnetic shims in seven different heights, with four of each size.

Each magnetic shim is ground on all six sides to an accuracy of ±0.0009" and hardened to HRC 50.

Built-In Rare-Earth Magnets

Each precision shim features two rare-earth magnets on the bottom face.

Fireball Tool varies the magnet size based on the size of the shim. Taller shims have enough magnetic holding force to remain positioned sideways on a steel project and can even support some of the smaller shims.

The thinner magnetic shims use smaller magnets so they're easier to remove from your work surface.

This makes the shims especially convenient when you're working on vertical surfaces, steel fabrication tables, and complex fit-ups where a loose spacer would normally fall out of position.

12 Thin Non-Magnetic Shims

For fine adjustments, the kit also includes 12 thin non-magnetic shims.

Thin Shim Sizes

These thin shims have nominal dimensions of 2" × 1" and can be used individually or stacked with the magnetic shims to dial in smaller height and spacing adjustments.

The top and bottom surfaces are processed, while the sides are not ground and may be slightly undersized from the nominal 2" × 1" dimensions.

The thin shims are not hardened and feature a black oxide treatment.

Heat Warning

The magnetic shims contain rare-earth magnets.

Avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 185°F (80°C), as excessive heat can permanently reduce the strength of the magnets.

Keep this in mind when positioning the shims close to active weld zones or other high-heat areas.
