Aerospace TIG Practice and a Hack Fixture

Jody Here,

Around 33 years ago the company I worked for asked me to certify over a 100 welders to mil standard 1595a.

That was the standard in place at the time for Aerospace welding, so there were two things I did right away.

#1 I submitted a tooling request to get some fixtures made for testing..#2 I got my CWI...Then a bulletin came out and there was a pretty tight deadline to get everybody certified... so my boss said you need to start tomorrow.

I hope this video does you some good, and inspires you to get out of your comfort zone and/or practice on some new/different techniques.

In this video I used one of my new Navigator Gas Lens kits. I get a ton of feedback on the type of kits folks want to see, and this by far was the most requested setup. We have clear and ceramic versions available for PRE-ORDER, just in time for Father's Day Weekend. IF you end up pulling the trigger on any of the 4 new kits, you will also get a free TIG Finger when we ship out your pre order (on/before 7/1/24)

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

Jody

Jody, I started welding over 50 years ago because it was expected of my craft . Just pick up a stinger and burn rods no formal training . When I saw tig I said I have to learn this it so cool , Still no formal training but I got what to be pretty good I thought. Long story but I saw some of your videos and a few others I found out I knew so little about tig welding I all but gave it up but no. Thank you for all you do . Please do not stop ERB

Jody, I was an aircraft welder for 25 years and your video is spot on when it came to recertification time in the shop. In the Navy every plate was x-rayed every year or so in house. Private sector way different. I love to see the attention to detail you have. Love your hard work.
