#9 Customer Video MIG Technique and Settings and TIG 1/2" Pipe
Hey Thanks so much for being a Weldmonger customer.
We are a small family run business and your support means everything to us.
The first topic here is me using a MIG180 small mig welder and showing that sometimes the MIG chart settings are not the best.
Sometimes you need to read the puddle and pay attention to things like spatter to tune the voltage and wire speed to where there is very little spatter and a smooth arc.
As I write this, I think I will do a longer and more detailed video in the near future on tuning MIG welder settings.
The second clip in this short video is about an open root pass in 1/2" pipe .
I used a 3/32" gap, 35 deg bevels, and a 3/32" ER70S6 filler rod.
I would strongly recommend using ER70S6 as opposed to ER70S2 for open root passes like this.
I would also highly recommend getting a TIG finger if you dont already have one.
On small bore pipes like this, I like to prop close to the weld and things get really hot really quickly.
When you have a TIG finger in your pocket, you always have a way to prop.
