Scratch Start TIG and Walking the Cup on Plate PrimeWeld MTS200

Walking the Cup on Plate with Scratch Start TIG - PrimeWeld MTS200

The MTS200 is mostly thought of as a MIG welder but it also does Stick and lift arc DC TIG.

The MTS in PrimeWeld MTS200 stands for MIG, TIG, Stick

In this video, I am using the MTS200 for lift arc DC TIG and getting some practice walking the cup on some 3/8" thick plate.

Not everyone needs to learn to walk the cup but almost everyone will need to be able to prop on hot metal when there is no where else to prop.

So the last few minutes of this video highlight just how useful a TIG finger® can be.

Grab your TIG fingers now right here

And while you are shopping, why not grab a few pairs of comfortable and durable weldmonger TIG gloves, and a pack of Tungsten.

Thank you for the instructional videos, they have been very helpful. I do have a question though. You show walking the cup, but from everything I can see is that walking the cup violates your rule of torch angle. Why is it okay to lay the torch angle back so far to walk the cup, but not free hand?
