TIG TORCH PARTS
What is up with TIG torches and Parts?& the Numbering System? The TIG torch numbering system (like 9, 17, 20, 26, etc.) seems random to most of us welders...

Turn an ordinary 2×4 into a heavy-duty, virtually unlimited-length clamp with the Fireball Tool Lumber Maximus Clamp.
Inspired by Fireball's heavy-duty Maximus fabrication clamp, the Lumber Maximus is designed specifically for use with standard 2×4 lumber. Simply slip the clamp onto your board, wedge it securely into position, and you've got a powerful clamping system with a working length determined by the lumber you choose.
Need a 4-foot clamp? Grab a 4-foot 2×4.
Need an 8-foot clamp? Grab an 8-footer.
Working on something even bigger? Go as long as the job requires.
It's a simple, versatile clamping solution for fabrication shops, woodworking, construction, assembly, jobsite work, and oversized projects where conventional bar clamps just aren't long enough.
The Lumber Maximus is designed around one of the easiest materials to find anywhere: standard 2×4 lumber.
Fireball designed the clamp for lumber that's typically approximately:
1.5" × 3.5" actual dimensions
Instead of buying multiple expensive extra-long bar clamps, use inexpensive 2×4 lumber as the backbone of the system.
Your piece of lumber determines the overall clamping length, giving you the freedom to build a clamp around the project.
One of the biggest advantages of the Lumber Maximus is that you're not locked into a fixed clamp length.
Use it for:
Large frames
Cabinets
Doors
Furniture
Table assemblies
Construction projects
Woodworking
Large glue-ups
Jobsite assembly
Straightening
Temporary bracing
Oversized fabrication projects
Simply select a 2×4 long enough for the job.
This is one of the smartest features of the Lumber Maximus.
You don't have to slide the clamp onto the end of the board.
The clamp can slip directly over the middle of a 2×4, allowing it to be installed even when the ends of the lumber aren't accessible.
That's especially useful on construction sites and large assemblies where the 2×4 may already be installed or surrounded by other material.
Slip it over the board, move it into position, and wedge it securely in place.
Anyone who has worked with construction lumber knows that not every 2×4 is exactly the same.
Actual dimensions can vary, and moisture content can change the size and shape of the board.
Fireball accounts for this with a wedge shape on the front and back of the clamp body.
The design helps accommodate dimensional variations between different pieces of 2×4 lumber.
Don't let the lumber backbone fool you—the Lumber Maximus can generate substantial clamping pressure.
Depending on the:
Condition of the lumber
Length of the clamping setup
Distance between clamping points
Overall project configuration
Fireball states that the Lumber Maximus can achieve approximately 250–500 lb of clamping force.
That's plenty of pressure for a wide range of woodworking, construction, assembly, and shop applications.
The Lumber Maximus isn't limited to pulling parts together.
Reverse the direction of the clamp and you can also use the system for spreading.
That gives you one tool capable of applying force in either direction.
Use it to:
Clamp material together
or
Push material apart
That versatility can be particularly useful for assembly, alignment, straightening, construction, and repair work.
The Lumber Maximus can also be used as a wood jack.
That opens up even more possibilities for positioning, lifting, pushing, or aligning material during construction and assembly work.
Combined with the ability to use practically any length 2×4, this makes the Lumber Maximus considerably more versatile than a conventional fixed-length bar clamp.
The Lumber Maximus features a large footpad that works with both flat and round material.
That allows the pressure pad to better adapt to the surface you're clamping instead of limiting the tool to flat stock.
It's useful when working with:
Flat boards
Frames
Panels
Round material
Irregular assemblies
Construction components
The clamp body is manufactured from die-cast aluminum, keeping the tool relatively lightweight while still providing the structure required for substantial clamping pressure.
A steel insert supports the spindle, reinforcing this critical load-bearing area.
It's a smart combination of materials that keeps the clamp manageable while adding steel where it's needed.
To install the Lumber Maximus, slip it over your 2×4 and push the arm up or down to wedge it into place.
For applications where you want the clamp more permanently secured to the lumber, Fireball provides side holes that allow you to install a nail or screw.
That gives you the choice between a quick temporary setup or a more secure installation.
Need a little more control over your clamping pressure?
A socket at the top of the handle accepts a 6mm hex key, allowing you to precisely tighten the clamp.
This gives you additional leverage and control when dialing in the final clamping pressure.
Fireball even incorporates a nail-removal groove into the design.
It's a small detail, but a useful one for a tool that's likely to spend plenty of time around construction lumber and jobsites.
Fireball intentionally treats the 2×4 as a consumable part of the clamping system.
Because the clamp wedges securely against the sides of the board, it may create small dents in the lumber during use.
For most applications, that's a worthwhile tradeoff for being able to turn inexpensive, readily available construction lumber into a customizable clamping bar.
If maintaining the cosmetic appearance of the 2×4 is important, keep this in mind before clamping.

1 × Fireball Tool Lumber Maximus Clamp Set
The customer supplies the 2×4 used as the clamp bar.
This is what gives the Lumber Maximus its flexibility—you choose the length of lumber that makes sense for your project.
Extra-long conventional clamps can get expensive fast, and they still lock you into one specific length.
The Fireball Tool Lumber Maximus Clamp takes a different approach.
Use readily available 2×4 lumber as your clamp bar, choose whatever length the job requires, install the Lumber Maximus, and put the clamping pressure where you need it.
When the next project is longer, grab a longer 2×4.
One clamp system. Inexpensive lumber. As much reach as the job requires.
NOTE: 2×4 lumber is required and is not included. Use of the clamp may leave small dents in the lumber.
