17 Series TIG Torch and Our Navigator KIT
Both 17 and 26 tig torches use the same cups and hardware
The main differences between a 17 series TIG torch and a 26 series TIG torch come down to size, weight, and amperage capacity.
🔥 17 Series TIG Torch (e.g., WP-17, SR-17)
- Amperage Rating: ~150 amps (air-cooled) can weld at higher amperage for brief periods but will eventually get hot in your hand at high amps
- Size/Weight: Smaller and lighter than a 26
- Cooling: Air-cooled
- Flexibility: Easier to maneuver in tight spots
- Common Uses: Great for lighter fabrication, auto work, thin metals
🔥 26 Series TIG Torch (e.g., WP-26, SR-26, CK Trimline26)
- Amperage Rating: ~200 amps (air-cooled)
- Size/Weight: Larger and heavier than a 17. (CK trimline26 is similar to a 17)
- Cooling: Also air-cooled, but bulkier to handle more heat
- Durability: Better for longer welds or thicker materials
- Common Uses: Good for heavier fabrication, structural welding

So if you're welding thinner stuff or want something more maneuverable, go with a 17. If you’re cranking out heat and need durability, the 26 is your workhorse.
If all you do is light gauge material under 125 amps a #9 air cooled is nice and small like a water cooled CK20 torch without needing a water cooler
