IF YOU NEED MORE TIG BASICS BEFORE WELDING CHECK OUT THE HOW TO TIG WELD PAGE

You can use 1/16" or thicker carbon steel for this exercise but what is shown is 11ga .120" thick cold rolled steel.

Do this skill drill until your beads are uniform and the torch feels very comfortable...like holding a big crayon.

It is helpful to have 2 pieces so that one can cool off while you practice welding beads on the other.

Once you are comfortable, move on to welding beads using a filler rod.
