Hastelloy W is one of the most commonly used TIG rods in the aerospace industry because it is so versatile and unlikely to crack even on crack sensitive metals. But the problem is, it costs over $165 a pound. That's not a problem for Big aircraft companies, but out of reach for most welders.

Back in the early 90’s when Delta Acquired Pan Am, I was working with Delta TechOps and a bunch of Hastelloy W showed up at our scrap yard because it was color coded and not flag tagged. I was lucky enough to buy it all for scrap prices. I probably used 10 lbs or so over the years in my welding side hustle but I still have quite a bit left and I don’t think I will ever use it up. So I thought I would share my good fortune and give the rest away to our customers.

It's a great rod to have around for dissimilar metal combinations and even for cast iron. That's why I am giving a 1/4” lb of hastelloy W ( over $40 value) with every order for 5 pounds or more of other filler metal.
